Visualize being Tom Hanks in the movie “The Terminal.”  If you have not seen the movie, Tom Hanks’ Eastern European country dissolves while he is trying to travel home.  He cannot return home until there is stability again.  Although “The Terminal” was a movie (based on a true story), this is a reality for many people around the world.

This is your chance to help people who cannot return home safely.  They have had to leave their homes for various reasons.  The main reason in Kenya for this was because of the violence from the 2007 election.  However, some other reasons may be conflict or natural disasters.

You will be working in an IDP (Internally Displaced People) Camp showing there is hope and love through Jesus’ resurrection.  God is sending you on this mission trip to show He has not forgotten about these people but loves them.  Although these people do not have homes, God provides for their needs through the camp.  You will have the opportunity to listen to the Holy Spirit to encourage these precious children of God.

Matthew 6: 25-26 (NIV) says: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?"

If you go on a missions trip with Adventures in Missions, you will be working with our Kenya Initiative missionaries.  They have been working in the IDP Camp for the past year.  Here is a link to their blog: http://kenya.theworldrace.org.

The Encounter Department has two mission trips available to Kenya for 2013. They are also specifically for two different types of trips.  They are also distinct in length.
