As you have read Dominic Mutua was seriously injured in the violence in Kibera and was taken to Kenyatta Hospital.  I called to check on him and was able to get a hold of Francis Anubi who assured me he would find out and report today.  This is what I learned:

On Tuesday, Dominic and Kefa (another Blue House Hostel boy) were walking in Gatwakera (near the train tracks just south of Karanja) when they happened to walk through a group of Luo youths who pounced on them.  Dominic's Akamba tribe is considered as favoring the government and siding with Kikuyus.

Dominic was severly cut on the head with a machette (across the top of his head) as well as greatly beaten with clubs on his knees.  Kefa was also beaten but much less severly.  Dominic was able to escape and made it to a group of police officers who loaded him in their truck and took him to Kenyatta hospital.

At the hospital they were able to stitch and treat the head wound and he was released on Wednesday.  He is still very weak but is praising the Lord that he was able to escape as it was clear that the group intended to kill him.  He knows that it is only the Lord who helped him run away while so severly injured.

Thank you for your prayers for Dominic.  He is doing much better but, obviously his tribal heritage continues to make him a target.  Francis said that there are many walking around in the slums with machettes, clubs and other weapons and will attack anyone at any time if they are the "wrong" tribe.  No one is walking around much and everyone is sticking close to their homes in fear.  Please continue to pray for the safety of our many friends who are still in such danger.  But also join us in praising our sovereign Lord who rescued Dominic's life.
