Despite continued instability in the government there are many praises to report as well.  Here is a quick list:

  • As far as we know, no one we know has lost their life!
  • The New Adventure School buildings were not looted or destroyed — books, desks and classrooms remain intact.
  • The teachers are all well and safe — none lost their homes.
  • Calm enough to begin school again on Monday, January 14
  • The AIM House buildings and staff are all well and safe.
  • The kids from AIM house were all with relatives during the calm lessening their danger and the stress on our staff.
  • The kids are all well and safe and uninjured despite being in some tough areas during the crisis.
  • The kids are planning to return this weekend so that they will be able to begin school agin on Monday.
  • The relief fund is providing vouchers through our partners to needy and hungry families who have lost so much during the instability.
  • Talks are beginning with international pressure between the opposing political parties.
  • The ability to communicate with our staff there throughout despite the distance to learn how we could support and pray for them.
  • Thousands of friends across the nation who are continuing to pray for our ministry in Kibera.
  • Calm beginning to increase in Kibera as well as through out the country.

We don’t understand why these difficult things have to happen but we will continue to trust the Lord: “For my Thoughts are not yoru thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9)  We know this is true when we continue to hear how God is at work there through this situation.

Please continue to pray for our friends there in Kibera but also join us in praising the Lord for all He has done and continues to do as well.
